Saturday night saw the Cider Slam go down at the Bold Rock Cidery in Mills River North Carolina. Hundreds of people gathered outside to see some of independent wrestling’s best. The crowd provided electric energy and the wrestlers responded with some of the best entertainment you will find anywhere. At the heart of this event was a young man with many years of experience. Respected by his peers and proven to be one of the most hard-working wrestlers around. Devin James known by fans and friends as Kay Holiday is a second-generation wrestler/promoter with the Cider Slam now added to his list of accomplishments. Pro Wrestler Shane Bryan holds the Cider Slam and Kay Holiday’s ability as a promoter in high regard. When asked about the event he said, “You work and work and work, doubting yourself the whole time until you step in the ring, and you get to be the superhero or the super villain. In this one take, you play your part to make the show great to the best of your ability. When everyone does that top to bottom you get a show like last night. A culmination of hardworking dedicated entertainers who care about the show and the promoter cares enough to put his heart and soul into it. You could feel that in the air last night, everyone had something to prove but it wasn’t a competition, it was an army fighting to be the best entertainment that could have been offered.”.
